Tom Holland Is The New Spider-Man!!!

It's been the question on everyone's mind ever since Marvel announced they'd gotten the rights to have Spider-Man in their movies...who would be the new version of Peter Parker? I'd been rooting for Tony Revelori to get the role (he proved he could pull of a meekish personality and deliver one-liners beautifully in The Grand Budapest Hotel), but it appears Marvel has gone in a new direction for the character. Marvel has just announced Tom Holland has been chosen to be the new Spider-Man, with Jon Watts directing the 2017 Spider-Man feature!


Holland, along with Asa Butterfield, was one of the most recurring actors that was said to be in contention to play the role. Him being chosen strikes me as a choice that's solid, but frankly, also more than a bit bland. Past Marvel heroes have been played by such unexpected choices like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Pratt and even Benedict Cumberbatch (whose only headlined one film before Doctor Strange). When such out-of-the-blue choices like Tony Revelori, Shameik Moore or Liam James exist, it's hard not to be a tad underwhelmed with Holland being chosen for the role.

Still, at least Marvel has control over this legendary character again, and that's quite good considering the lackluster quality of the Amazing Spider-Man features. Can't wait to see what the new Spidey suit looks like!
