Melissa Benoist Will Star In Supergirl TV Show From The Makers Of Arrow

The DC Television Universe, which currently consists of Arrow and The Flash, is set to expand with Supergirl this fall, a new TV show that focuses on (SPOILER ALERT) Supergirl. She's a hero from Superman's human-resembling alien species who has similar powers (namely super strength and flying) to the Man Of Steel. There's been a massive hunt for the actress to play the hero, and now Melissa Benoist will be leading the program.

Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice is a huge step forward for the DC Cinematic Universe, but Suicide Squad may be even bigger in terms of helping to establish a cohesive universe between the numerous characters in the world of DC comics. Foes for superheroes like Batman, Superman and The Flash will unite in this feature, which has imprisoned supervillains recruited to do dangerous missions for the government.

The first DC Comics feature after Batman V. Superman will be Suicide Squad, which will be released on August 5, 2016. The film involves a group of supervillains who are recruited by the government to go on dangerous missions. It's the project I'm most excited for out of DC's forthcoming movies (even if I wasn't crazy about the last film, Fury, from the director of Suicide Squad, David Ayer), and now it looks like the cast is taking shape.

Christopher Nolan Has Left The DC Comics Building

Christopher Nolan pretty much revolutionized blockbuster cinema with his Dark Knight trilogy, which took a cinematic icon (Batman) and made him the center of an epic saga filled with great acting and compelling stories. Nolan was kept onboard for the first DC Comics feature after The Dark Knights trilogies conclusion, Man of Steel, though here he was solely a producer. Steel had lots of Nolan's influence, but none of that influence felt personal. Instead, Zack Snyder just seemed to be mimicking the "darkness" and "brooding" of The Dark Knight trilogy without realizing those weren't the sole elements that made those movies successful.

The mythology of Batman is so large at this point that to come at it with a new idea is almost impossible. Gotham isn't entirely original, but it does at least give us a perspective on the madcap world of The Caped Crusader that isn't usually given a lot of thought in comics, films or other storytelling mediums. It tells of a time before Batman, what was Gotham? What was the city and the people that lived in it like?

I'm sure everyone is completely unaware of the fact that Ben Affleck is playing the Caped Crusader, but now we have the first official images of the vehicle Afflecks Batman will drive in the feature.

Dwayne Johnson Is Playing DC Comics Supervillain Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson has been promoting his forthcoming role in the Warner Bros./New Line Cinema/DC Comics superhero film Shazam, but it's been unclear whether he'd be playing the titular protagonist or his enemy Black Adam. As the title of this article suggests, he'll playing Black Adam the bad guy of the film, and that seems like the better option to me.

2014 has been mighty kind to LEGO, and for good reason! The LEGO Movie not only wound up being on of the most thoughtful and brilliant movies in recent years, but it also made a ton of cash that renewed interest in LEGO as a brand. Still, that doesn't mean LEGO had been collecting dust on a shelf somewhere prior to Emmet and his escapades. On the contrary, their toys have been consistently popular for decades now, and the critically and financially successful video games have only helped bolstered their impeccable track record. I'm more of a Marvel Comics kind of guy, especially when it comes to the world of film. I mean, compared to Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers, Green Lantern and Man of Steel look even more pathetic than they already are. And yet, DC has tons, and I mean tons of awesome accomplishments under their belts. Their animated programs run circles around Marvel garbage like The Ultimate Spider-Man, while they're responsible for some of the greatest graphic novels of all-time like Watchmen. Even in the world of film, them bringing us Christopher Nolans Dark Knight trilogy is an impressive feat.
