Okja Is A Monster Of A Movie Capable Of Great Absurdity And Equally Great Emotions
Okja is not director Bong Joon-Ho's first time around the science-fiction track, but each time he comes into the genre, he tackles a new corner of science-fiction. For The Host, he was making a film in the style of classic monster movies while Snowpiercer is like any number of super-violent and allegorical high concept movies John Carpenter made in the 1980's. What kind of storytelling terrain does his newest science-fiction venture, Okja, occupy? Interestingly, it seems like its storytelling sensibilities hew closer to both ecologically aware science-fiction movies and heartwarming tales that filter the "a boy and their dog" stories through science-fiction means i.e. The Iron Giant and Big Hero 6.

Zootopia Begins To Roar With Sizable Thursday Night Grosses
Last nights Thursday night numbers are in for Zootopia (which I won't be seeing and reviewing until Tuesday), as well as London Has Fallen, though I'm still waiting on figures for the third new release of this weekend, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Anywho, looks like Zootopia is about be a huge box office hit is its Thursday night grosses are anything to go by. It grossed $1.7 million last night, a major improvement on all comparable titles.

Home Review
Home (But Not So) Alone
The world of sci-fi animaton is surprisingly sparse of huge successes, despite the presence of huge hits like WALL-E and Big Hero 6. Some of the biggest box office bombs of modern animation, whether they be deserved (Mars Needs Moms and Planet 51) or unwarranted (Titan A.E.) can be found here, and while early box office returns suggest Home will easily find it's way into the former category, it's also got more than enough flaws to come up as lacking entry in this subgenre of the animation medium.

How DreamWorks Animation Lost Its Way
Last night, I gave one of 2014's most delightful films, Big Hero 6, a rewatch, and found it be such a glorious experience, especially since I watched it with two viewers who hadn't seen the film in theaters. That rewatch got me thinking about the American animation landscape, and my mind eventually turn it's attention to one particular studio that's been facing some "troubles", to put it lightly, lately: DreamWorks Animation.

My 12 Favorite Movie Trailers Of 2014
You won't see a ton of "Best of 2014" lists on this site at this time of the year, mainly because a good chunk of notable 2014 movies (Inherent Vice, Selma, American Sniper) won't come to a theater near me until mid-January. Expect lists revolving around my favorite 2014 features around that time, but I'll still toss a few retrospective lists in the next few days, starting with the one, which covers my 12 favorite 2014 trailers.

Box Office Predictions: Penguins And Jason Bateman Go Up Against Katniss
Plenty of movies will vie for box office glory over this coming Thanksgiving holiday, as Horrible Bosses 2 and The Penguins of Madagascar expand their franchises while The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One will likely lead the box office again. Add in The Theory of Everything going into wide release, and there's plenty to talk about.

Box Office Predictions: Katniss Everdeen Is Off To Financial Victory
Only one new movie opens this weekend, and boy is it a doozy. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One is unleashed onto the world, and no other movie has a chance to beat it. With that in mind, let's get this weeks box office predictions started, shall we?

Box Office Predictions: Dumb And Dumber To May Not Overcome Big Hero 6
Box office predictions is back from the dead! This is one of the most time consuming pieces to write for the website, and it's never gotten the high rate of viewership I'd like it to have, but screw it, I love writing about the box office, so let's do it!

Big Hero 6 Review
A Heroic Achievement
As one of the biggest Disney animation nerds on the planet (my first word on this planet was Disney actually...I was doomed to this life from the start!), a new feature from the newly revitalized animation studio always gets me excited. Trailers for Big Hero 6 looked terrific, but I was worried, simply due to there being so few movies from the studio that were like this one. Heavy on action (the last time the studio tried that, *hooray!* Treasure Planet, though before that we got *shudder* Atlantis), based on an obscure Marvel character and a potential trainwreck of a lead character...these are the elements that filled me with worry as the movie approached.

Big Hero 6 Gets New Action And Fall Out Boy Packed Trailer From New York Comic Con
Less than a month separates the American moviegoing population and the newest feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Over the weekend at New York Comic Con, a new trailer for the feature (dubbed a sizzle reel) was unveiled, giving us more of a look at the action elements of the feature, as well as more of a look at the other members of the titular team. Check it out below!

Final Trailer For Big Hero 6 Is Full of Laughs, Actions And Emotion
One thing that I think is a major factor in Walt Disney Animation Studios resurgence is the much more effective marketing used for their features starting with Tangled. Starting with that 2010 film, trailers for the studios films were extremely memorable and also very well-made. The short trailer for Frozen last summer that simply showed Sven and Olaf engaging in shenanigans was despised by many on the interwebs, but I myself found it more than amusing and any time it played at a movie theater, that thing just went over like gangbusters.
