Bradley Cooper And Especially Lady Gaga Soar In An Emotionally Powerful New Take On A Star Is Born

Living out here in a suburban town in Texas, I'm isolated from any and all big film festivals as well as all the major movies that premiere there so, naturally, that means I've been removed from all the hype surrounding A Star Is Born ever since it premiered a little over a month ago to rave reviews. I've been hearing non-stop about just how good this movie is, and yet, when I finally got to see this new motion picture over the past weekend, I was shocked to discover that not only did it exceed the massive amount of hype it had generated but just how surprising it's best qualities were. Even though it had been screened so many times before its proper domestic release date, there were still plenty of tricks up A Star Is Born's sleeve for us Texas yokels removed from the festival circuit!

Three-time Academy Award-nominated actor Bradley Cooper has played many roles in his career. He's been an American Sniper, a guy who said Aloha and a gun-toting raccoon. Now he'll take on a new challenge; directing. Yep, Mr. Cooper is going behind the camera for the very first time. He'll be directing and starring in a new feature film remake of A Star Is Born. They've been looking for a leading lady before going full steam ahead on the project and it appears they found someone to star in the project with Mr. Cooper: Lady Gaga!

Bradley Coopers transition from character actor to leading man has been an interesting one, mainly because it's been interesting to watch how his typical personality (the assured, cocky scoundrel) is utilized in more layered motion pictures than Failure To Launch. Silver Linings Playbook brought Cooper to the field of commanding dramatic performances by making his phlegmatic personality be clashed against outbursts, with a similar sort of temperament surfacing again in 2013's American Hustle. Last years Guardians Of The Galaxy may have been the best dramatic use of Coopers disposition, with the seemingly endless bravado and snark of Rocket Raccoon hiding the characters relentless existential crisis.

There's few actors I like more than Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone. I'd add Bill Murray, Rachel McAdams, Danny McBride and John Krasinski to that list too. So why does a film, called Aloha, that unites all these actors together look so....cookie-cutter? No really, this trailer plays more like a parody of the conventions of these kind of dramedy features instead of an actual concrete tease of a film. Check it out for yourself below.

Chris Kyle is a figure well known across America, a man whose life is brought to life in Clint Eastwoods newest feature American Sniper. Here was a fellow who, as a soldier, did so much in his life, which interestingly contrasts with this film that winds up doing very little of actual worth.

We've seen a lot of amazing adventures from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the interlocking film series that includes the Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Avengers films (it also includes the singular The Incredible Hulk). They've changed the face of cinema in recent years, with The Avengers encouraging every movie studio and their grandma to enter the business of creating franchises that constantly crossover into each other. The only one to emerge so far (though the Universal Monster movies are the next up to follow this tactic) was The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which ditched coherent storytelling in favor of setting up endless amounts of sequels.
