Lowriders Needed More Polish Before It Could Truly Shine

Lowriders is a collaboration between two of Hollywood's biggest production companies; Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment and Jason Blum's micro-budget wonder factory Blumhouse Productions. The two have joined forces to finance and theatrically release (via Blumhouse's self-distributing studio BH Tilt that put out recent movies like Incarnate, The Belko Experiment and Sleight) Lowriders after the movie sat on the shelf for nearly two years. Interestingly, in that time, three of its main stars (Melissa Benoist, Theo Rossi and Tony Revelori) have gotten involved in major roles in high-profile superhero projects. Hopefully Demian Bichir joins them in that regard soon!

The Darkness Review

For every modern day horror movie like The VVitch, You're Next and It Follows that dares to upend conventions of the genre, you're bound to find hundreds of other horror movies like The Darkness that seemed to have fallen right off an assembly-line. Seemingly crafted for the sole purpose of being found on Netflix by horror movie junkies at 1 AM, these are the kind of films that drudge up cliche after cliche without even daring to dress up said tropes in a fancy get-up or even a modicum of craft. Honestly, The Darkness strikes me as so paint-by-numbers that I'm seriously shocked Blumhouse Productions went through all the trouble of giving it a theatrical release.

Well now, American Sniper pretty much shattered all expectations didn't it? More than doubling the previous highest grossing January weekend of all-time, the Chris Kyle biopic debuted to over $89 million last frame, an extraordinary result that means it'll have a massive second weekend that'll have no trouble keeping three newcomers out of the number one spot.

It's been a week chock full of trailers, and here's another one to add this weeks numerous other trailers. This ones for a film that's getting a bit of an unconventional release; the subject of this trailer, Stretch, will be released on VOD platforms throughout October.
