God's Not Dead 2 Trailer Sticks Up For The Little Guy...The Little Guy Being White Christians

I thought it was over.

God's Not Dead tested me in ways that you can't imagine, it's spiteful, hateful soul repelling me like few films ever have. Once the credits rolled, I hoped that'd be the end of it all...but in the pit of my heart, I knew the tremendous box office meant there would likely be a sequel. Well, here it is folks. Before Hellboy 3 graces movie theaters, we get the continuing adventures of Bigots 'R' Us, AKA God's Not Dead 2. The first trailer is below, and if you wanna watch it and read my rant on it, just march onward into the abyss.

Unbroken Review

Don't Go Unbroken My Heart

I find movies that have the elements of greatness and fail to utilize them far more frustrating than an outright terrible film like God's Not Dead or Transformers: Age Of Extinction. Not even Wes Anderson could have made Trans4mers compelling, whereas Unbroken has all the ingredients of being terrific right at it's feet. The story of Louie Zamperini is an astonishing one full of courage and bravery ripe for an effective cinematic depiction, and sadly, Unbroken just doesn't utilize it.

Editorial: Can We Start Giving Superhero Movies Some Respect?

The writer with the largest presence on Rope of Silicon, Brad Brevet, used to be one of my favorite writers when it came to the world of cinema, but sometime last summer, a shift happened in his writing. It was like a switch flipped in his brain or something, every single thing he wrote was dripping in gratuitous cynicism. Now, a cynical approach is not only a perfectly fine way to write pieces on movies, it can be a great angle if one does it in a successful fashion. Unfortunately, Brevet has made it tiring to read his endless mean-spirited attitudes towards blockbuster filmmaking.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR GOD'S NOT DEAD FOLLOW

There's few pieces of cinema this year, or really, ever, as vile and putrid as God's Not Dead. It played more like a parody of poorly done faith-based features rather than an actual attempt at creating cinema. As s Christian myself, the films relentless horrific treatment towards those of any other faith than Christianity was truly horrendous to witness. A new video has come up condensing the poor excuse for a film to just seven minutes, and you can give it a watch below.

In Trailer For Left Behind, Nicolas Cage Takes On The Apocalypse, Not THE BEEEEEEESSSS!!!!

As I said in my review of The Frozen Ground, I like Nicolas Cage a whole lot, but I'm not gonna sit here and tell you many of his recent films weren't God-awful. It looks like that trend will, unfortunately, continue with this dreadful looking new movie Left Behind, which from the studio that brought you God's Not Dead, an easy contender for one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Tammy Review

This movie made more money in a single day than
The Immigrant has made in a month-and-a-half. We have failed
people. We have become monsters.

Let's get this out of the way; Tammy isn't a good movie. In fact, I'll even be bold and say it's a bad one. It's not abysmally, soul-crushingly awful like God's Not Dead or Transformers: Jesus Christ, That Movie Refused To End, but yes, Tammy is bad. And it's poor quality is only emphasized by the ambition that project contains. Ya see, the movie is really more of a drama than anything else, with numerous moments that are supposed to be devastating in terms of emotional impact. And considering Melissa McCarthy was one of three writers on the project, I gotta give her props for attempting to expand the range of movies she appears in.

Editorial: Why I Hate CinemaSins

I decided to not post an article yesterday devoted to the new created
Honest Trailer for Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen, simply because not only was everyone else already doing it, but because channels inspired by Screen Junkies (which hosts the Honest Trailers) have, in the last two years, been run on cynical content that just reduces the magic of cinema to quick cynical gags. It's hard to promote something that's helping reduce peoples perception of movies to simply unfunny cynical one-liners. Admittedly, at least the crew behind those Honest Trailers (which more often than not are at least diverting) have some respect for some of the movies they parody, unlike the horrific channel that has endured popularity amongst the internet for bewildering reasons.

The haven for lazy, nitpicky critiques of film is without a doubt the channel dubbed CinemaSins.
