Star Wars Celebration (a recurring fan event that's pretty
much San Diego Comic Con for Star Wars geeks like yours truly) is underway
today, and one of the first panels of the event was one centered around the
forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Lucasfilm was kind enough to live
stream the event to all of us not in Anaheim, California. Excitingly, the event
brought a new trailer for Episode VII, which I'm proud to say you can watch
now!
The emphasis JJ Abrams placed on good characters and practical effects during this panel showed just how much he gets what made those original Star Wars movies great. Further proof of this can be found in this teaser, which pairs gorgeous visuals (no really, the style of this movie looks incredible!) with old favorites from this universe like R2-D2 and the Millennium Falcon. Plus, there looks to be plenty of new creations to keep this from being just uber expensive fan service.
And yes, Chewie and Han at the end got me cheering. I feel like you're not human if that isn't your natural response seeing those two back together again.
Christmas is gonna be sweet!
