MovieBob is totally one of my favorite movie critics, a guy whose work as a YouTube film critic offers hope to a medium of expression oversaturated with PewdiePie knock-offs and shallow examples of film criticism. This is a guy who goes for analytical observations of movies, proving once again (much like The Dissolve or Roger Ebert's numerous internet essays) that internet-based film criticism can be a good thing, much as CinemaSins would make you understandably think otherwise! And today, MovieBob's released another entry in a series of long-form video essays he's dubbed Really That Good.

What Does The Future Hold For Ghostbusters?

This past Thursday, Sony/Columbia rolled out the debut trailer for their big summer 2016 tentpole feature, Ghostbusters. A reboot of the 1984 Ivan Reitman feature, the teaser debut to mostly positive reactions from publications like Forbes and Hitfix, though patrons on YouTube expressed displeasure with a massive amount of dislikes (its like-to-dislike ratio is worse than the trailers for God's Not Dead 2, Pixels and even the Point Break remake) and numerous introspective comments calling for the death of the four lead actors. In terms of analytics, Pro Box Office noted, when looking at its impact on social media websites and view count across multiple platforms four days into the trailers existence, that "as far as trailer impacts and splashes go, they really don't get much bigger than this."

Smosh: The Movie Review

In this day and age, comedians/performers/singers on YouTube are finally breaking over into the pop culture mainstream. Figures on the website like Tyler Oakley have gotten book deals, James Corden and Jimmy Kimmel have featured YouTube celebrities on their late-night programs and now low-budget feature films are being made centered on certain YouTube stars. That final development is what brings us this motion picture entitled Smosh: The Movie, focusing on a comedy duo (comprising of Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla) named Smosh. What does the name mean? Like whatever Bill Murray whispered into Scarlett Johansson's ear at the end of Lost In Translation, it remains a mystery.

Virtual Reality Video For Warcraft Shows Potential Future Of Movie Marketing

The Comic-Con footage of Warcraft, a Duncan Jones directed adaptation of the video game World of Warcraft, didn't light the world up (the footage they showed didn't seem to get a good reception and it being scheduled between the Warner Bros. and Fox panels meant Duncan Jones tale of Orcs got lost amidst Batman v. Superman and Deadpool shenanigans), but a video (which I've embedded below) that allows a viewer to fly over the city of Azeroth (which I assume is crucial to World of Warcraft lore) has certainly garnered quite a bit of attention, and for good reason. That's because it's a video that makes use of virtual reality by allowing a viewer to have a 360 view of the city and all that surrounds it. Just use the arrows at the top left portion of the video to navigate your way through this sensational video.

John Oliver Is Coming Back For Two More Seasons!

In a short period of time, John Oliver has quickly become one of the most notable personalities on television, with his HBO program Last Week Tonight With John Oliver using the venue of late night television to address serious problems the world if facing in a humorous, but effective manner. John's an incredible dude, and I'm so happy to hear he's gotten not just a season renewal, but a renewal for two more seasons!

Who ya gonna call...for great internet entertainment? ERB of course! The YouTube channel (whose name stands for Epic Rap Battles) has been providing rap battles placing two famous opponents for a while now, and I've been a fan of the work for over three years now. The channel, which is led by NicePeter and EpicLloyd, has just returned from a brief hiatus to deliver a new season of fun rap related mayhem, and the first one, letting the Ghostbusters and Mythbusters duke it out, is superb. On A Wing And A Prayer

Films have the power to say things of incomparable substance. Some of the greatest filmmakers of all-time have used the medium of cinema to bring to life the kind of movies that help shape a generation via their underlying subtext and themes. It's neat to see any person undertake the mission of making a film that says something truly important, and it's pretty obvious that Birdman director (who also serves as one of the features four writers) Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu truly believes with all of his heart and soul that he's saying something meaningful within each and every frame of Birdman. I'm sure it's meaningful to him, and more power to him if it is. But for me, the message of the motion picture is like the movie itself; cluttered and underwhelming.

We all enjoy consistency in our everyday lives. I know I do. There's nothing more comforting than seeing certain things stay the same, especially considering how much in this world changes on a regular basis. It's nice to know that the sun will always rise and that Christmas will always come with Winter weather, but what we as a mass audience love is consistency in pop culture. Superman got under fire last year for the very uncharacteristic he took out his primary antagonist, and for good reason. That move betrayed all the character stood for and was not only a product of needlessly updating a beloved entity in order to be "hip", but was also a reminder of Man of Steels unending shoddy screenwriting.

I didn't think my love for Star Wars and my excitement for Guardians could possible go any higher, yet a brilliant YouTuber has managed that feat. In The List!!!, I do a list that just reeks of being click-bait, analyzing a particular topic or subject that pertains to something major occurring in pop-culture. This week, in honor of my CinemaSins editorial, which has had over 400 views in just two days, I take a more positive look at things by highlighting six YouTube channels I enjoy.

Editorial: Why I Hate CinemaSins

I decided to not post an article yesterday devoted to the new created
Honest Trailer for Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen, simply because not only was everyone else already doing it, but because channels inspired by Screen Junkies (which hosts the Honest Trailers) have, in the last two years, been run on cynical content that just reduces the magic of cinema to quick cynical gags. It's hard to promote something that's helping reduce peoples perception of movies to simply unfunny cynical one-liners. Admittedly, at least the crew behind those Honest Trailers (which more often than not are at least diverting) have some respect for some of the movies they parody, unlike the horrific channel that has endured popularity amongst the internet for bewildering reasons.

The haven for lazy, nitpicky critiques of film is without a doubt the channel dubbed CinemaSins.
