Walt Disney once said "For every laugh, there should be a tear." A large swath of modern animated family movies have taken that axiom to hear, particularly the films made by PIXAR which frequently leave adults sobbing as much, if not more so, than their young offspring. The LEGO Ninjago Movie is an example of taking this saying too far, an odd occurrence given how well the other two LEGO movies (The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie) were at deftly mixing wacky humor with heart. But that's just happened, as this feature film adaptation of the LEGO Ninjago toys shoves far too many badly-executed attempts at tugging on the heartstrings into its story.
Welcome to Land of The Nerds, where I, Lisa Laman, use my love of cinema to explore, review and talk about every genre of film imaginable!

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Trailer Has Some Serious Daddy Issues
Considering how franchise crazy Warner Bros. is these days, you'd have to be crazy to think they were only gonna follow-up their smash hit feature The LEGO Movie with only one or two direct sequels. They're going spin-off crazy with this one, with this Friday bringing The LEGO Batman Movie and this September unleashing the LEGO Ninjago Movie on the populace. Now, I'm completely unfamiliar with the LEGO Ninjago franchises history beyond knowing that it was a TV show on Cartoon Network and also knowing that my younger brother was obsessed with it for a brief period. It appears the movie version of that property is giving itself its own mythology, so check out the first trailer for it below to get a first glimpse of this new take on the Ninja LEGO characters.

LEGO Jurassic Park Trailer Adds Humor To The Dino-centric Franchise
LEGO video games are about to celebrate an entire decade of prosperity and success, as it was back in 2005 that the first video game to take an existing property and bring it to life via LEGO's (that first game, by the by, was LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game). This approach has been done to massively popular pop culture entities such as Harry Potter, Marvel superheroes and Indiana Jones, but in honor of the release of this summers new movie Jurassic World, the Jurassic Park franchise will be the next to get a LEGO video game. A trailer for that game has been released this morning, which you can watch below!

From the Interwebs: LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Are Brought To Life In This Clever Video
As someone who has been anticipating Guardians of The Galaxy for over two years, the monumental success the movie has found is extremely exciting. Discovering that the feature more than lived up to my lofty expectations was extraordinary, and all the positive hype from everyone else that's seen it has been super exciting.

The Newest LEGO Batman Video Game Gets New Cosmic Trailer
2014 has been mighty kind to LEGO, and for good reason! The LEGO Movie not only wound up being on of the most thoughtful and brilliant movies in recent years, but it also made a ton of cash that renewed interest in LEGO as a brand. Still, that doesn't mean LEGO had been collecting dust on a shelf somewhere prior to Emmet and his escapades. On the contrary, their toys have been consistently popular for decades now, and the critically and financially successful video games have only helped bolstered their impeccable track record. The newest video game, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, just dropped a new trailer and you can watch it below.
