25 Best Films Of 2015: Part One (9-H)

OK, I've finally managed to see as many movies as possible from 2015, let's try to knock this article out before we enter the second month of 2016, shall we?

Ant-Man 2 Confirmed For 2018 As The Marvel Cinematic Universe Updates Its Release Schedule!

I was pretty certain we'd get an Ant-Man 2 sometime down the road, but I was thinking they'd hold off on such a project until after the Avengers: Infinity War project was completed. After all, both of those movies will almost certainly feature Ant-Man, and his presence in those two films (as well as next year's Captain America: Civil War) could boost his profile significantly, leading to his solo movies performing at higher levels of box office, just like how Captain America, Iron Man and Thor's post-Avengers solo outings did far better business than they're pre-Avengers entries.

What Can We Learn From This Summers Blockbusters?

Another summer has almost come and gone. Technically, the summer box office doesn't conclude until Labor Day graces our world, but unless We Are Your Friends becomes an Avatar-level box office phenomenon, I can pretty much guarantee you right now that Straight Outta Compton was the last moneymaker of this summer. In terms of summer blockbusters, there were highs and lows in terms of quality, with the more blatantly subpar projects like Terminator: Genisys and Pixels failing to lure in audiences, thank Heavens.

Ant-Man and Trainwreck Off To Great Starts At The Thursday Box Office

The newest movies from Marvel Studios and Judd Apatow got off to great starts last night at Thursday night screenings that bode well for how both projects will fare through the weekend. The two films had their own challenges to face (interestingly, both had leads that had never led a mainstream motion picture before), but if last nights box office is any indication, neither one has anything to worry about come this weekend.

It's Tough To Be A Bug

Things get weird in Ant-Man. And I don't mean just a little peculiar, like, there are a couple of moments in this movie that cross the threshold into the realm of bizarre. You thought the raccoon wearing peoples clothes was odd? Wait until you see Paul Rudd surfing on a large mass of ants. Interestingly though, all of that outre content is balanced with character related drama that struck me as surprisingly well-written and realistic.

Will Ant-Man Be Huge Or Minuscule At The Box Office This Weekend?

Let's not mince words for a second; if Ant-Man underperforms this weekend, that's entirely on that movies shoulders. They can't blame the success of Minions for it's shortcomings; just last month a summer blockbuster (Jurassic World) and an animated family movie (Inside Out) managed to coexist peacefully, while past Marvel films have faced even greater competition at the box office (remember when the first Captain America movie managed to beat out the second weekend of the last Harry Potter movie, which had the then biggest opening weekend of all-time?). Like I said, if things don't go solidly for Ant-Man this weekend, there's no one to shift the blame to.

The Ant-Man marketing is kicking into high gear, with numerous TV spots hitting the internet the past few days and a six minute sneak peek set to play on IMAX 3D screenings of Jurassic World. I have a hunch a new trailer will hit the interwebs in the next few days, but even if we don't get that, some awesome new posters (which can be seen below) have dropped connecting Ant-Man to his Marvel Cinematic Universe comrades in a fun way.

The cast for Captain America: Civil War is gonna be huge, and so it's no shocker that, even with developments earlier in the week with Martin Freeman and Emily VanCamp entering the film, that more cast members for the gargantuan movie would be announced.

The Poster For Ant-Man Continues Marvels Trouble With Posters

Much as I love Marvel Studios, whose films like Avengers: Age of Ultron and Guardians of The Galaxy have provided endless amounts of entertainment for me and moviegoers worldwide, it must be said that their posters for their movies, frankly, tend to suck. Oh sure, the teaser posters for Ant-Man, Guardians of The Galaxy and Iron Man 3 had an effective use of simplicity to it, but just look at the main poster for Avengers: Age of Ultron. That things got so much damn stuff going on, and very little of it makes sense (I still can't figure out what Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are standing on in that poster). That kind of cluttered atmosphere runs rampant in most Marvel posters, and that tradition somewhat continues today.

Pan Will Fly Off To Neverland In October

Looking over the 2015 release schedule, I was surprised to see Warner Bros. had nothing planned for October 2015. Considering they release more movies in any given year than any other studio, it was surprising they didn't have anything up their sleeves for October. That's changed today, as their reinvention of Peter Pan will arrive now on October 9, 2015.

Get A Feel Of The Cast, Scope And Humor Of Fantastic Four With New Trailer!

A lot of this summers big blockbusters (Ant-Man, Terminator: Genisys) have been releasing trailers recently, likely in order to make sure their shown on Avengers: Age of Ultron. This trend continues tomorrow when Jurassic World releases its new trailer, and now 20th Century Fox has gotten into the game by releasing a new look at the Fant4stic, er, Fantastic Four.

The Official Batman v. Superman Trailer Is Here To Ask...Do You Bleed?

The trailer for Batman v. Superman leaked last night, and for some reason, major publications like The AV Club and Variety decided to run this bootleg version of the trailer instead of waiting for Warner Bros. to release something official. The studio has done just that now, with a teaser trailer (emphasis on teaser) for the 2016 film that you can watch below.

With Age of Ultron on the horizon (only 18 days to go!), Marvel is now turning it's attention to their next big budget blockbuster: Ant-Man. The only promotional material we've seen from the movie are some cool looking images, a funny poster and a decent, if overly serious, teaser. Summer 2015 Box Office Predictions (Part One)

Well, Summer 2015 is just around the corner, and I got to thinking, why not do some box office forecasting for the wide number of releases hitting multiplexes this summer? These predictions will be split into two parts; the first one, which you're reading right now, focuses on my projections for this summers Top 10 movies, while the second part going up tomorrow centers around my predictions for this summers sleeper hits, wild cards and flops.

What 2015 Movies Could Hit $200 Million? (Part Two)

With The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water waaaaaay overperforming with a $55 million opening weekend, it looks like that undersea fella could hit $200 million in it's final gross, becoming the first movie of 2015 to accomplish that task. That got me thinking about what other films could hit that mark at the domestic box office, and I've compiled part two (part one can be found here) of a list of 15 movies that are likely to hit that mark, as well as a notice on the individual likelihood of each movies chances at hitting that prestigious $200 million mark.

A Look At The Various Superhero Movie Universes

There's about four superhero cinematic universes running around right now, each with varying degrees of success and potential. Since two of them unleashed trailers of their newest features onto the world in the past month, I thought it was time to look at each of these four superhero universes and analyze how well they're doing currently and what ventures they have planned for film and television in the future.

Agent Carter Review

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe expands further outwards, out to the likes of Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and the Netflix Defenders, it's interesting to see a more grounded character like Peggy Carter get the spotlight. Now, the world she inhabits in the show is far from grounded, which is a great thing, but she's certainly inhabiting a more down-to-Earth realm of espionage that makes her quite engaging as a lead character.

Editorial: Doctor Doom Will Be A Blogger In New Fantastic Four Film, And That's OK....For Now

While a fantastic trailer of Avengers: Age of Ultron has put that film on everyone's radar, the other two superhero movies for Summer 2015 have been flying a bit more under the radar so far. One of them, Ant-Man, has at least unveiled official photos from the production and some behind-the-scenes footage, while the other, The Fantastic Four, has given us zip, zilch, nada aside from a photo of a stand-in for the movies version of The Thing.
