It's funny how quickly things can turn in the world of television. One minute you're on top of the world, the next you're struggling to get ratings momentum. FOX is in that kind of position right now, with the network that dominated the first decade of the 21st century hitting a rough patch last season that it hasn't recovered from. Hits like Gotham and Empire are offset by the crumbling American Idol empire and struggling comedies.
It's no surprise then to hear that FOX is considering bringing back one of their most successful programs, The X-Files. I haven't watched the show myself (I'm a monster, I know), but the very concept of the show leaves more than enough room open for more stories to be told in that universe, perhaps with the occasional cameo from David Duchovny and Gillan Anderson (when she's not working on Hannibal of course!).
Nothing official is in the works right now, but considering how public FOX is with their hopes, chances are good that a revival of the show will soon be, like the truth, out there.
