Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice is a huge step forward for the DC Cinematic Universe, but Suicide Squad may be even bigger in terms of helping to establish a cohesive universe between the numerous characters in the world of DC comics. Foes for superheroes like Batman, Superman and The Flash will unite in this feature, which has imprisoned supervillains recruited to do dangerous missions for the government.
An all-star cast was announced for the film a while back, but one name has left the production; Tom Hardy. He was slated to play Rick Flagg in the film, but he's dropped out due to filming for his upcoming movie The Revenant going overschedule. It hasn't been confirmed, but it is worth mentioning a prominent rumor that states Hardy left the film because a rewritten version of the script shrunk the size of his role. Take that for what you will.
Director David Ayer is reportedly courting Jake Gyllenhaal to take over the role, which does indicate that, even if he doesn't accept the role, this cast is certainly trying to have one of the more unique roster of actors for a superhero film in recent memory. Now all they need to do is finally finally cast someone for King Shark. How can you not have a Suicide Squad movie without that guy in it?
