The Book Of Henry Has Lots Of Strange Plot Turns But What's The Point Of It All?

SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK OF HENRY WITHIN

While the film geek community was aware that director Collin Trevorrow had a movie called The Book of Henry on the docket for release in 2017, the feature didn't gain all that much in the way of attention until it's bonkers first trailer was released, revealing the movies bonkers-looking plotline and immediately rocketing itself onto many people's radars. I'll freely admit to being one such person whose interest got piqued by the absolutely tonally all-over-the-map trailer which combined super-inventive kid movie tropes with Naomi Watts as a sniper action. The biggest question remaining for me and many others after watching that trailer was whether or not the actual movie itself would be this crazy....

Painless But Sorely Lacking In Laughs Is The Best Way To Describe Going In Style

I really wish Morgan Freeman would go back to doing more dramatic acting work. Who can blame the guy for taking easy paychecks in this late stage of his career (dude's more than earned it!) but the novelty of seeing this gravely serious man with a voice like no other human being on the planet goofing it up in more light-hearted fare like Batman Begins, Red and The LEGO Movie was fun for a while for sure, especially in The LEGO Movie where he parodied the exact kind of persona he's always being casted as. But after more than a decade of him lampooning his own image by appearing in genre fare, I dunno, I just wish he'd do more serious films again instead of another Olympus Has Fallen sequel where he just sits in a room for twenty minutes.

Over A Decade Before Zootopia, Disney Animation Tried To A Create A World Of Animals In Chicken Little

Ah, Chicken Little. As a proud Disney Animation aficionado, I can honestly say that, in the spectrum of the studios 54 (soon to be 55 with the release of this Friday's motion picture Zootopia) movies, Chicken Little easily ranks near the bottom in terms of quality. Since it's November 2005 release, the movie has basically vanished from the face of the Earth, scrubbed from Disney merchandising and swept under the rug. You won't find the likes of Runt Of The Litter as a Disney Infinity figure, and even its online fanbase is basically nonexistent. While the likes of far less financially successful films like Treasure Planet and The Emperor's New Groove continue to find fans, Chicken Little has been sent out to pasture, so to speak.

Wish I Was Here Review

Film is an incredible tool to convey any kind of story you can imagine. Perhaps you want to create an exhilarating story about six superheroes defending New York? Or how about a beautiful yarn about Joaquin Phoenix falling in love with a piece of artificial intelligence? Zach Braff, in his second directorial effort, acts like he's saying something truly masterful and thoughtful in every single second of Wish I Was Here. But instead of making the production feel insightful, it just makes sure every moment is laced with arrogance.
