Blockers Mixes Vulgarity And Sweetness To Remarkably Successful Results

Blockers is many things and one of those things is being the umpteenth piece of proof that movie trailers can be incredibly misleading. The trailers and marketing for Blockers never registered as outright bad to me but they did make the movie look like a run-of-the-mill comedy with nothing all that special to offer. So color me shocked and delighted that Blockers as a film isn't just better than it's trailers, it's a terrific motion picture full stop! This film, which serves as the directorial debut for Kay Cannon, is a riot when it comes to providing a steady stream of memorable laughs, but best of all it's got a touching heart as big as John Cena's muscles.

Trainwreck Does Not Go Off The Rails (I Spent Five Hours Working On That Pun,  Savor It)

Perhaps one of the more interesting aspects of Amy Schumer breaking out with Trainwreck is her lack of previous film roles. The likes of Zach Galifianakis, Melissa McCarthy and Will Ferrell spent years as character actors doing supporting roles in comedies, whereas Schumers largest film roles prior to Trainwreck were an uncredited role in Sleepwalk With Me and a part in Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World.

Ant-Man and Trainwreck Off To Great Starts At The Thursday Box Office

The newest movies from Marvel Studios and Judd Apatow got off to great starts last night at Thursday night screenings that bode well for how both projects will fare through the weekend. The two films had their own challenges to face (interestingly, both had leads that had never led a mainstream motion picture before), but if last nights box office is any indication, neither one has anything to worry about come this weekend.

Will Ant-Man Be Huge Or Minuscule At The Box Office This Weekend?

Let's not mince words for a second; if Ant-Man underperforms this weekend, that's entirely on that movies shoulders. They can't blame the success of Minions for it's shortcomings; just last month a summer blockbuster (Jurassic World) and an animated family movie (Inside Out) managed to coexist peacefully, while past Marvel films have faced even greater competition at the box office (remember when the first Captain America movie managed to beat out the second weekend of the last Harry Potter movie, which had the then biggest opening weekend of all-time?). Like I said, if things don't go solidly for Ant-Man this weekend, there's no one to shift the blame to.

Summer 2015 Box Office Predictions (Part One)

Well, Summer 2015 is just around the corner, and I got to thinking, why not do some box office forecasting for the wide number of releases hitting multiplexes this summer? These predictions will be split into two parts; the first one, which you're reading right now, focuses on my projections for this summers Top 10 movies, while the second part going up tomorrow centers around my predictions for this summers sleeper hits, wild cards and flops.

Without further ado, here are my predictions for Summer 2015's 10 highest grossing movies!
