The Predator Is A Staggeringly And Tragically Inept Feature

The Predator is a movie that feels like it's been put through a meat grinder and then put through numerous cycles in a blender. Good luck keeping track of where characters are or why crucial plot points are even happening amidst the ramshackle editing that renders the whole movie choppy & frequently incoherent. The disastrous editing isn't all that goes wrong here though in this motion picture whose extremely low level of quality is tragic to see. You'd think pairing up Shane Black, the mind behind Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys, with a new Predator movie (Black had previously appeared in the first Predator film in a support role) would be the easiest recipe ever for surefire entertainment, but The Predator is instead a total waste of potential that rarely feels like a Shane Black movie, and I'm not just saying that because it doesn't take place at Christmastime!

A Great Cast And Thoughtful Story Make Don't Think Twice A Riot

"Dying is easy, comedy is hard". Everyone's heard that phrase before and boy howdy is it ever the truth. Comedic acting skills tend to get undervalued compared to their dramatic counterpart, perhaps a bit of give-and-take in the fact that escapism comedies tend to make a whole lot more money than the darker dramas where dramatic acting excels. Still, one can't help but feel that those who immerse themselves in the world comedy acting don't quite get the sort of respect they deserve due to the kind of work they put into their craft. Thankfully, we've got a movie like Don't Think Twice that helps put the spotlight on those comedians struggling to get their time in the limelight and some respect.

Keanu Review

For Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, Keanu is basically their watershed moment as high-profile comedic figures. For comedians transitioning from TV to film, their first on-screen project, more often than not, can make or break their careers. For every Amy Schumer, Jason Bateman and Will Ferrell that went from the small screen to the big screen with major success, you've got your Jimmy Fallons and Chris Kattans that couldn't quite break through to the level of marquee names in movie theaters (though the latter two actors, especially Fallon, would find glory in the realm of TV). For Key & Peele, this is their first time leading a feature film, and with their hit sketch comedy TV show off the air, they have no safety net to return to. Like I said, this is the time to do or die, as Jared Leto would put it.

Hotel Transylvania 2 Review

There are a few parts of Hotel Transylvania 2 to admire, but the structure of its plot is most certainly not one of those positive aspects of the feature. At first, the primary flaw to be found in how it dishes out is story is the rapid pace at which it goes through various plot developments (the marriage between vampire Mavis and human Johnny, then the reveal of Mavis being pregnant, giving birth and then flashing forward to when the offspring is a few years old) that honestly could have filled out further Hotel Transylvania chapters in their own right.
