The First Trailer For ABC's New Muppet Show Is Here!!

I loved the 2011 Muppets (I still stand by my opinion that it was the best film of that year), but Muppets Most Wanted was a much more heavily flawed, if still mostly entertaining film that sputtered at the box office. Luckily, this has given these assorted Jim Henson creations the chance to go back to TV with a new show on ABC this fall, which just debuted its first trailer, which you can watch below!



The audio in this trailer is kinda peculiar (I'll upload a version of this trailer to this news piece shortly that doesn't have the occasional sputtering in it), but what's really getting me is the voices of the various Muppets, which sound more high-pitched than ever before. I'm seriously curious to find out if Steve Whitmire or Dave Goelz are still playing these characters, or if new puppeteers have been brought in for this project.

It also must be said the humor found here is a bit more adult than found in typical Muppet fare; it's far far from, say, South Park level gags, but it is still weird to hear Kermit say the word hell. There's not a ton of really knockout gags to be found here, but at least their approach to comedy (fourth-wall breaking shenanigans will abound) seems to be intact. We'll see how it plays out in a half-hour format come this Fall.
