Bessie Imbues Some Unique Details Into The Music Biopic Genre

Bessie Smith was a one-of-a-kind music legend. Born in Chattanooga, Tennesse, Smith was raised in a troubled household and struggled to find steady work as a singer. A chance to work Ma Rainey (Mo'Nique), however, gives Bessie Smith the breakthrough she needs. Soon, Smith is her own solo act and one that's becoming quite famous. As the years go by, the highs for Bessie Smith are high but the lows, including her worst struggles with addiction, those sink very deep. All the while, Smith also grapples with her inability to really emotionally connect with others as well las torment from the past that's informing her iconic blues music.

Michael Fassbender Goes West In Trailer For Slow West

Michael Fassbender has been on a roll for pretty much his entire career. Whether it's been a great complicated villain in the X-Men movies, having a terrifying presence in 12 Years A Slave or being the star of one of last year's most underrated movies, Frank, the guy is usually quite compelling in his acting work. His next venture is Slow West, a film that debuted at Sundance and one A24 (with help from DirectTV, which does movies now too I guess?) is distributing. Check out the trailer for the movie below!

My God, the promotional campaign for The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is truly the gift that keeps on giving. That first trailer with a creepy rendition of "I've Got No Strings On Me" would be more than enough to get any person excited for the film, but then Marvel dropped this trailer yesterday that just continued to amp up my excitement for the feature.  Check out the trailer below!

Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone Go To Hawaii In Trailer For Aloha

There's few actors I like more than Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone. I'd add Bill Murray, Rachel McAdams, Danny McBride and John Krasinski to that list too. So why does a film, called Aloha, that unites all these actors together look so....cookie-cutter? No really, this trailer plays more like a parody of the conventions of these kind of dramedy features instead of an actual concrete tease of a film. Check it out for yourself below.

I haven't seen Pitch Perfect, which feels weird considering my adoration of musicals and Anna Kendrick. But I'll certainly check it out within the coming months, as a sequel is on the horizon that aims to take advantage of the massive audience that has found the film on home video and translate it into summertime box office success.
