Five Underrated Disney Songs

It's hard to resist the various musical numbers found in a number of the 55 films in the Disney Animation canon, but in my book there's a couple of these tunes that could definitely stand to be more well-known. Thus, I've compiled a piece to examine five songs from classic Disney features that really do deserve more recognition for their accomplishments in numerous areas. For full disclosure, the only criteria to be eligible for this list is that the song had to be from the Disney Animation canon (which excludes films like Enchanted) and could not be nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar.

The Ambition Of Disneys Hercules Is Both a Blessing And A Curse

In the age of the mid-90's, it was obvious the filmmakers at Walt Disney Animation Studios were craving a change. Their two most recent films (Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame) had been made to be as serious as possible in order to chase the awards glory that Beauty & The Beast had received. The pent up demand to work on something more comic unfolded in the form of Hercules, a feature from Ron Clements & John Musker who, with The Little Mermaid and Aladdin under their belt, knew a thing or two about churning out a successful animated Disney feature.

Dwayne Johnson Is Playing DC Comics Supervillain Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson has been promoting his forthcoming role in the Warner Bros./New Line Cinema/DC Comics superhero film Shazam, but it's been unclear whether he'd be playing the titular protagonist or his enemy Black Adam. As the title of this article suggests, he'll playing Black Adam the bad guy of the film, and that seems like the better option to me.

Box Office Predictions: Guardians Will Be Hooked On Top Of The Box Office

Only two new wide releases this weekend, but one of them is a doozy. The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe feature Guardians of The Galaxy hits 4080 theaters after a huge marketing campaign. The James Brown biopic Get On Up will attempt to counter program Rocket Raccoon's exploits, but how much will each movie make? Read on to hear my predictions!

Hercules Review

Zero To Nowhere Near Hero, But Not Too Bad Either

Despite the fact that it's a $100 million movie starring Dwayne Johnson released in late July, the best parts of Hercules are simply the bits when the movie explores what differentiates this version of Hercules from past incarnations. This actually isn't sarcasm, there are some really unique ideas in this scripts written by Evan Spiliotpoulos (whose previous major screenwriting cred it was Poohs Heffalump Movie) and Ryan Condal. Perhaps the best scene of the entire film is a bit where the nephew of Hercules, Iolaus (Reece Ritchie) explains to a dubious general that the reason Hercules was able to penetrate the skin of an impenetrable boar was by the use of an impenetrable sword.

Box Office Predictions: Scarlett Johansson Should Beat Up Dwayne Johnson This Weekend

Three new releases (and one expanding release) enter the box office in hopes of recovering from that abysmal showing last weekend. Luckily, Lucy looks poised to deliver impressive numbers, though Hercules looks like it'll be a flop.

Box Office Analysis: Let's Predict The Rest of The Summer!! (PART ONE)

Eight weeks into the summer, we've seen hits (Godzilla, X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Fault In Our Stars) and duds (Blended, A Million Ways to Die In The West). Utilizing the performances so far, I've decided to take a gander at the upcoming features coming out between now and Labor Day and predict their opening weekend and final grosses, and sprinkle some analysis in there too. Not every movie is covered (I'm sure some sleeper hit that'll eventually make big bucks isn't on here), but regardless, here's my predictions for the tidal wave of notable releases left this summer, split into two parts.
