The Fault In Our City

Allow me to declare myself as a disaster movie aficionado, which, as you can likely surmise, means I know my way around a Roland Emmerich feature. It's neat to see a new entry added to this subegenre, courtesy of Brad Peyton, whose experience with disaster movies mainly extends to his 2010 film Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore, which was certainly a box office disaster. Now, he's unleashing an earthquake on San Francisco, one which offers untold opportunities for cataclysmic mayhem.

Rock N' Roll All Night

Watching The Rock is like stepping into some kind of super warped time machine, one that takes it's viewer into the wonderful world of 1996. Here is an age where Michael Bay was a promising director coming off the previous years hit Bad Boys, and was making easily his most audacious project yet; The Rock, an action feature that has Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery teaming up to take down Ed Harris, who has taken the entire facility of Alcatraz (it's also referred to as, cue dramatic music, THE ROCK) hostage. Oh, and did I mention the villain has numerous deadly bombs with him?

Man, do I love disaster movies. Loved 'em when I was 12, still do now. The likes of Armageddon, 2012 and Independence Day entranced me with their spectacle and depictions of people doing courageous things under tremendous circumstances. Now, Dwayne Johnson gets to star in one of these kinds of features in San Andreas, a Summer 2015 movie that just got it's first trailer, which you can watch below.

I Hate Every Ape I See, From Chimpan-A, To Chimpan-Z

There will come a day, when the courage of apes fail...
but it is not thsi day!

When Rise of The Planet of The Apes came out in 2011 and became a financial and critical success, there was one thing everything was eager for; a sequel. After all, this prequel to a certain beloved 1968 film (yep, you guessed right; all these movies are prequels to Bullitt) leads to a very definitive conclusion that could still have many great stories to tell leading up that ending. With a new director (Matt Reeves), a new cast of humans and a greatly expanded budget at their disposal, the movie utilizes all of its resources to create a fantastic movie, one that's got thrills and thoughtfulness to spare.

Editorial: You Got A Bay....Or Nah?

So, Michael Bay did it again. Another big hit for the filmmaker, another movie torn to shreds by critics. One of those critics happen to be yours truly, who would easily consider Transformers: Age of Extinction one of the worst movies, not just of the year (it's by far the worst, juuuuuust edging out God's Not Dead) but of all-time. It's an incoherent mess that can't even use robotic dinosaurs in a fun manner, let alone give us a screenplay that works on any level.
