Trailer For Southpaw Puts Jake Gyllenhaal In The Boxing Ring

Nightcrawler is an incredible movie and to say Jake Gyllenhaal is a major reason why is a vast understatement. The guy was incredible in this role and going into 2015, I was excited as hell for three (yes, three) movies he's got lined up this year, After his turn as Louis Bloom, anything he stars in I anticipate. My anticipation for one of his projects, Southpaw, just went up considerably when I saw this trailer for it, which you can watch below.

Good Lord. First off, the shot at :11 seconds in, where it pans across the ropes of the ring and then Gyllenhaal comes flying in, love that part. And then everything from 1:27 to 1:32 in the trailer, wow, that was just powerful. Those are the best parts of this trailer, but they're not the only reason to be excited, as the film looks like it'll take a conventional sports story (underdog dad has gotta win a big match) and adding complexity and darkness to it. This all looks stupendous, so consider my anticipation increased ten-fold.
