The start of the trailer reminded me of those Scrat Ice Age teasers, where they seem to continue off each other and show self-contained adventures of that particular character. For this film, the beginning looks to be playing off how the Minions arrived in New York at the conclusion of the last teaser, with them now looking for a ride. Things soon turn into a more conventional trailer as soon as the Minions get a ride to Villain-Con and meet Scarlett Overkill, played by Sandra Bullock.
Bullock doesn't do a ton of movies, so her choosing this as only her fourth movie post-Blind Side is an impressive get for the production. Her character isn't really that interesting from the trailer, she doesn't get any really stand out funny moments, but I'm a big fan of Bullock, so it's cool to see her get some more work. The rest of the voice cast is also glimpsed here (Allison Janney and Michael Keaton play the couple that pick up the Minions on the road, while Jon Hamm gets one line as Scarlett's husband), but frankly, none of the actors present do anything to persuade me Minions looks truly remarkable. Perhaps the film itself will wind up being more notable. Time shall tell.
