Real-Life Murders Are Used As A Starting Point For The Assassination of Gianni Versace To Explore The Humanity of The Downtrodden

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace AHEAD

Making a follow-up to anything that garners a high level of acclaim is a daunting prospect, especially when the project you're following up is the first season of American Crime Story, The People v. O.J. Simpson. A recreation of the O.J. Simpson murder trial, this was a ten-episode long season that took a trial everyone across the planet knew about and made it feel fresh & new, especially when it explored elements like the pressure put on Marcia Clark during the trial and examining the systemic racism against African-Americans that was affecting the proceedings. Thoughtful, compelling, packed with tremendous performances, this was top-notch television. The only problem for the creators of the show was figuring out where they could go in a subsequent season of American Crime Story that wouldn't feel like a letdown in quality to the average viewer.

Point Break (2015) Review

Every speck of sand on those dunes glistens in the unbearable heat, as two individuals on motorcycles ride on up, stop and proceed to take off their helmets. One of these men is Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), an extreme sports connoisseur addicted to dangerous thrills and a major celebrity on YouTube. The other fellow is a good friend of his who may as well be named Won't B. Aroundforlong, since his demise is all but certain the moment he begins a conversation with Johnny regarding how dangerous this stunt they're about to attempt is.

Joy Review

Now that Jennifer Lawrence is free of her Hunger Games and  X-Men commitments, I'm super curious to see what projects she undertakes next. She apparently wants to try her hand at directing (following in the footsteps of other A-list actors who go behind the camera like George Clooney, Angelina Jolie Pitt and Clint Eastwood), but I do hope her future efforts have more substance to them than her latest starring vehicle, Joy, a noble but ultimately underwhelming film devoid of energy and personality.

Fan-Casting The Sinister Six

One aspect of the Spider-Man movies that surprises me is how, even though we've had five films centered around the web-crawler, there's so many parts of the characters mythology we have yet to see in cinematic form. Black Cat, Sinister Six, Kraven The Hunter, Vulture, Mysterio....so many creations from the comics have yet to see the light of a film projector. Part of the blame for these characters staying on the wayside can be attributed  how The Amazing Spider-Man retread an enormous amount of storytelling ground from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, meaning time that could have been spent setting up new characters like The Chameleon and Silver Sable was spent going over the whole Uncle Ben fiasco again.
