In An Attempt To Boost Its Image, DC Films May Hire Noted Anti-Semite Mel Gibson To Direct Suicide Squad Sequel

In addition to that Gotham City Sirens movie that original Suicide Squad director David Ayer and Margot Robbie are doing, it appears that a Suicide Squad 2 is officially a-go, with Warner Bros. actively searching for a filmmaker to take over the job of directing those baddies on a mission since original director David Ayer is busy with the aforementioned Gotham City Sirens movie. The Hollywood Reporter brings word this evening that Daniel Espinosa is one candidate up to direct, with another one that Warner Bros. is actively seeking being....MEL GIBSON???

Yep. Despite being aggressively anti-superhero movies in the past, and even outright bashing Batman v. Superman, it appears Warner Bros. and DC Films are looking at him as one potential candidate for the job. Now, this is obviously not happening yet and I personally doubt it'll come to fruition, but holy moly, the fact that he's even being considered for this position is....well, worrisome. I'm still not comfortable seeing Mel Gibson back in the limelight again, especially since as late as late November he was still playing the pity party martyr complex routine over being called out for making repeated racist and sexist tirades that showed a seething underbelly of hatred lurking beneath an exterior that had once been deemed fit to be called "SEXIEST MAN ALIVE!!"

But in Hollywood, all ya gotta do to get some love back is get some Oscar glory and now that his new movie Hacksaw Ridge got a Best Picture and even nabbing Gibson a Best Director nod, I guess he's back? He just officially signed a deal today to appear as a main character in Daddy's Home 2 (as if I wasn't dreading that sequel enough already!) and now he's in contention to direct Suicide Squad 2. Because a movie that treated its female characters as dreadfully as Suicide Squad will only find improvement by hiring a director noteworthy for saying a woman looked like a pig and then wishing said woman would be raped.

Let this be a lesson kids, there's always a second chance out there for you! As long as you're white, male, rich and getting Oscar buzz, you don't even have to be apologetic about your past shameful actions!
